Ok - I am going to get unhappy...

    1.  Why can I not create a new topic to talk about...  I see masters swim at Cooper - is that open to only Cooper members?

    2. Why can members not create topics?  Or am I missing something - wouldn't be first time...

    3.  No one looks at this website as far as members go.  I understand IT, (IT Director), but com'on...  To have 1 person suggest a bike for me when I know more people have to have opinions...  The whole idea behind the group I thought was to help others...

How are we helping those just starting the sport?

    Hello Steve,

I am sorry you feel unhappy about the lack of information on the website.  To address your first question the creating a new topic has been fixed. I apologize. it was set to be restricted in the beginning and never re-evaluated.  As for the masters cooper swim, yes you have to be a member of cooper to swim, unless you come on some ones guest pass. I hope that fixes your first two questions/comments if not please let me know.

As for your third comment about members not checking this site that much i agree.  It was my hope and intention to get people to network through this forum/site. It as fallen off the map because of much easier and useable technology...ie.. FACEBOOK.  Yes the reason for the group and site is to help each other but i can not force people to check this site. Of course now that i have fixed the forum error that i was unaware of maybe communication will increase.  I can tell you that i am working on updating the site as soon as i get accurate and complete information. The first of the year is always most difficult as sponsors/workouts/prices get changed and adjusted.  I am working on developing some mobile tools that hopefully would help us communicate a little better.  I also wanted to point out(but not use as an excuse) is that fact that the board members all have other full time jobs. they manage/ organize and update this group all on their free time.  We try hard to fill the needs and wishes of its members.  The club is always looking for volunteers with experience to help us be more efficient.

I hope that I was able to address all of your issues.  If you have any other questions or comments I could answer please let me know.

    Thanks

Comon - full time jobs are no excuse (*sarcasm*) - you are leaving out the more than 10+ hours of training too...  I apologize if I came across very harsh.  My only disappointment is the traffic here is very sporadic and minimal.  I wish more used it - but you cannot force folks.  I do appreciate that we have it as a tool.

Side question - I so need open water experience - will we have any group workouts prior to King Tut?  I do not wanna brain lock 200-250 meters in like I did at Take on the Heat last year(first open water) and still have half the water to swim - would prefer to be able to do the whole thing freestyle :P

Thanks for the Help - Steve.

I wish there was more traffic on her as well.  Maybe some day i can figure out what really captivates the audience.  As for the open water swims i am not sure there are any scheduled before king tut (too cold for most).  if you like i will go with you.  we can always try to set up our own.  I will ask eduardo (work out manager) if there is a chance of setting one up prior too.  hope you have a wet suit though.  My first Tri was king tut and the water was freezing, i looked around at the start and saw that there literally was me and another guy without one every one else was warm and toasty in there suits.  That was not my best swim.  But i got a suit now and would love to get back into the water. just let me know.

Allen Eagle Run 5k, Saturday, March 3rd, 2012!  This run benefits the Foundation for Allen Schools, the Allen Council of PTAs, individual campus PTAs and PE departments.  The money raised funds teacher and student scholarships, PTA and PE programs.  If you'd like to register go to www.AllenEagleRun.org  Prices go up from $15 to $20 after this Friday, Feb. 10th.  If you are not currently affiliated with an Allen school please select Evans and our school will get credit.  We're involved in a District wide competition to see which campus can get the most registrations.

    Thanks!

    Steve,
First open water swim is this weekend at Lake Ray Roberts, hope to meet you.  Check out events page.

I too wish the website had more traffic but I believe everyone has become too used to Triathlon Friends group we started a while back.  Link below..

Be aware that this while the Triathlon Friends group started as NTM it has opened to all DFW triathletes.  If requesting NTM specific info, make sure to note that.

Has anyone thrown the idea out about using better forum software like vBulletin or something else? I have been actively using internet forums for over 10 years. There needs to be better organization. Facebook sucks. People ask questions, they get really good answers, and then there is no way of finding these archived posts without scrolling for days. Put the useful information in a good forum so people can go back to it and FIND it and actually Network efficiently. beginnertriathlete.com is a good place to look for examples. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/category-view.asp

Hi Alvin, sorry to get back with you so late but i have had some family matters to attend.  Yes we have looked at vbulletin, i actually had it set up and was using the TALKATAP app on phones with it to communicate. However It was decided that the currently used software could track and autobill which i was not able to create on my own.  The billing took priority over other features so we are stuck with the forum features that this service provides. You are correct that those other forums have much better features for both user and admin.  If i could find a way to integrate it into the current site i would much rather do that but as of now it is not possible. please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions on improving the current site.

    thanks

    Micah
